New mix from Elijah and Skilliam which as you’d expect by now takes in some of the most upfront and exciting grime. Highlights this time round are Terror Danjah’s Bruzin VIP forthcoming on Hyperdub, Freeze by Royal T and two new bits from SRC amongst much more – tracklist speaks for itself really. All delicately squashed into 35 minutes that will most definitely get your week started at the correct pace.

Mr. Mitch steps up here to remix SRC’s Lemsip off his wicked EP – Gold Coinz. Mr. Mitch is one of the latest finds and recruits of the ever expanding Butterz empire. It’s amazing how pretty much all the new grime I’m into these days is beamed from the record box of two people; both on Rinse and their blog. Mr. Mitch flips the Mario induced melodies of the original into something extremely bouncy. Also worth checking is Skittles which is forthcoming on the Butterz label.

SRC makes wonderful, arcade inspired grime music, stipped down and with added funk. First picked up by the Butterz gang on their RinseFM show, the massive Mario-sampling Goomba found it’s way into the boxes of many DJs, most notably Oneman. It was a track on his SRCD Vol 4 mixtape which we actually gave away in November. Since then, he’s come a long way, was on of FACT’s 10 to watch in 2010 and is due releases on Nmbrs, Rwina, Butterz and No Hats No Hoods. The first of all of those is the Gold Coinz EP on Nmbrs, due very soon, stream the massive title track below or the rest here.

Elijah and Skilliam aka Butterz played our first night and quite frankly left a dent in The Rhythm Factory that they are still trying to smooth over. We profiled them here, but really all you need to know is that they really are two of the most hard working DJs playing the game. They play grime and constant digging and encouraging of bedroom producers puts most DJs to shame. Heads like SRC, Swindle, Royal T and D.O.K arguably wouldn’t be where they are (SRC on Rwina, Swindle on Planet Mu, Royal T on No Hats No Hoods) without Elijah & Skilliam and their Rinse show. The mix is full of upfront tunes from SRC, Starkey, Swindle, D.O.K, Rude Kid, Mr.Mitch and the dangerous Gully Goon Estate from Terror Danjah and Joker.

Elijah & Skilliam are the first people to step up to the decks at #pipedown01. They play grime music; straight up grime, nothing more, nothing less. Every week they are on RinseFM, Tuesday nights 1-3am, are about to launch their label and run a mighty fine blog. 2010 is the launch of their label Butterz, what should be the perfect output for the talent the pair have discovered and pushed on their radio show. The first release is from Terror Danjah, whilst Bipolar wonders into dubstep territory, for me it’s all about the two on the flip. Airbubble and DOK’s Sidechain remix that are more typical Danjah opting for those high, pitchbent synthlines (and don’t forget that gremlinz). The next release is from Swindle, a name I’m pretty sure you’re going to be hearing more of in the future. Listen to Butterz001 below:

We’re really excited to announce something that marks us breaking out of being ‘just a blog’ and onto better things. PIPEDOWN#01 is our first night and the beginning of our residency at The Rhythm Factory. It’s happening every last Wednesday of the month and we’re going to bring you the finest and most exciting future sounds like we aim to do on the blog. So, future sounds, visuals and cheap drinks, hopefully making new the idea of midweek raving. The first night is Wednesday 27th January, make note.
