Joy: Baths.

Baths is 21 year-old Los Angeleon Will Wiesenfeld. Given early support by hero and mentor Daedalus, he is currently on the promotional treadmill leading up to the release of his debut LP for Anticon, Cerulean, hitting stores June 22nd. Sounding like he fits right in with the Brainfeeder crew, Baths first live show was as a support act for Nosaj Thing and Flying Lotus. His sound is warmer and more organic than most wonky hip-hop, reminding me most of a perfect meeting of Pipedown-favourites Hudson Mohawke and Gold Panda. We bring you two tracks from the album today, ‘Maximalist’ and ‘Hall’. ‘Hall’ drops into a loping beat and features the singing talents of Wiesenfeld himself, a distinct difference from other similar artists. ‘Maximalist’ has a more solid beat, built out of synth lines and quotes from various films saying things like ‘take a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence’ and ‘shedding a light of beauty in the universe’. Grab both below.
